Chapter 8. Tasks > Assigning and Accepting Tasks

Assigning and Accepting Tasks

You can create a task and assign it to someone else, which is useful not only for business environments where you are part of a workgroup, but also when you are collaborating in any setting with other people. For example, you might be planning a sales conference for your company, and one person is in charge of booking a meeting center and caterer, another person is in charge of computer and audiovisual equipment, and another is in charge of inviting attendees and keeping an attendance roster. The Assigned Tasks feature enables you not only to assign these tasks to other people, but also to receive status reports they send about the tasks so that you can make sure everything is moving smoothly with the sales conference planning.

Assigning a Task to Someone Else

You can assign a task to someone else either by selecting Actions, New Task Request when in a Tasks folder or by assigning a pre-existing task to someone else. To assign a task that already exists to someone else, open the task and select Actions, Assign Task. You can also use the Assign Task icon on the Standard toolbar in an open task item to assign a task to someone else.
