Entering Text in Cells

As mentioned earlier in this chapter, you can add text to a spreadsheet just as easily as you can add numbers. For example, let’s say you’re building a spreadsheet to keep track of sales figures for each division. Here’s how you add a title to the spreadsheet:

1.
Continue with the spreadsheet from the previous section and click in Cell A1.

2.
Type the text Sales Totals and press Enter.

3.
Click in Cell A3 and type North. Then press Enter.

4.
Type South and press Enter to add text to Cell A4.

5.
Type West and press Enter to add text to Cell A5.
