Chapter 22. Excel Settings to Change > Setting AutoRecover Time

Setting AutoRecover Time

By default, Excel automatically saves changes in an AutoRecover file every 10 minutes. If Excel or your system hangs, Excel reads the AutoRecover data when Excel restarts, enabling you to restore the document to the point of the last AutoRecover save. If you make lots of changes, 10 minutes could be too long. Use the Save AutoRecover Info Every n Minutes option on the Save tab of the Options dialog box to turn AutoRecover on or off and change the AutoRecover period.

Tip

You can choose the option Disable AutoRecover on the Save tab to prevent AutoRecover saves for the current workbook. This setting is saved with the document.
