Adding New Lines and Page Breaks

When you press Enter in a Word document, Word inserts a paragraph mark, which by default is hidden. The paragraph mark starts a new paragraph on the next line.

Tip

You can click the Show/Hide button on the Standard toolbar to turn on or off the display of nonprinting characters.
