Sections

A section in a Worddocument is pretty much what it sounds like—a section of the document that has different properties from other sections. For example, you might want to have one section of single-column paragraphs, followed by a section of two-column text, followed by a section of graphs and charts. Each section needs to have different margins or other page layout settings. Figure 10.12 shows a document with different sections.

Sections vary the layout of a document within a page or from one page to another. You start a new section by inserting a section break. You can insert a handful of different section breaks by choosing Insert, Break:
