Animating Slides

You can add animation to a slide to create a more dynamic presentation or to draw attention to certain items on a slide. The simplest way to animate slides is to use an animation scheme. It is also possible to animate slides by using custom animations, but that is more complex and is not covered here. The main difference between these two methods is that an animation scheme is predefined and applies to all items on the slide, whereas custom animation can be used to give different animations to each item on a slide.

The first step in animating slides by using an animation scheme is to select the slides to animate. You can apply the same animation scheme to multiple slides by selecting the first slide in the navigation pane and then holding down the Ctrl key and selecting more slides. When you have selected the slides to which you want to apply the scheme, you select Slide Show, Animation Schemes to open the Slide Design pane, which is shown in Figure 24.5.
