Chapter 30. Access Settings to Change > Setting the Default Folder Location

Setting the Default Folder Location

By default, Access looks in My Documents when you open a database. If most of your databases are stored in a different location—such as a network server—you can change the default file location in order to locate files more quickly.

To do this, you choose Tools, Options to open the Options dialog box and then click the General tab. You enter the path in the Default Database Folder text box and click OK. The Pages tab of the Options dialog box (shown in Figure 30.6) includes a couple settings that let you specify the default location for database project files and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection files.
