Part 12. Word and the Web > Converting a Web Page to a Word Document

Converting a Web Page to a Word Document

From within Word, open the File menu and choose Open to display the Open dialog box.

Type the address for the Web page in the File name text box, and click the Open button.

Word prompts you to connect to the Internet if necessary, and then opens the Web page in the Word window.

Open the File menu and choose Save As to open the Save As dialog box.

INTRODUCTION

Once in a while, you may want to save a Web page as a Word document. Perhaps you found a recipe on a Web site and want to edit the text in Word, or you discovered a Web page about woodworking and want to take advantage of Word's formatting and printing capabilities to spruce it up a bit. When you convert a Web page to a Word document, Word does its best to preserve the formatting in the page.

Choose a location for the document, and type a name in the File Name text box.

Click the down arrow next to the Save as type field and select Word Document in the list that appears.

Click the Save button.

The Web page is saved as a Word document.
