Saving a Custom Background as a Design Template

Open the File menu and choose Save As.

The Save As dialog box appears. Type a name for the slide design in the File Name field.

Click the down arrow next to the Save As Type field and choose Design Template from the list that appears.

INTRODUCTION

If you customize your slide background and get it just the way you want it, you can save your work and reuse the same settings again. To do so, save the customized background as a slide design template and then apply the design to other presentations as needed. Customized designs are saved by default to the Template folder.

TIP

Storing the Template in My Documents

You can save your template in any folder, but you will need to use the Browse feature to locate the template and apply it to your slides. It's faster to keep templates stored in the Templates folder.

Click Save.

PowerPoint saves the design as a template file and lists it in the Slide Design pane.
