Part 6. Changing the Appearance of Slide... > Changing the Slide Background Patter...

Changing the Slide Background Pattern or Texture

Open the Format menu and choose Background.

The Background dialog box opens. Click the color drop-down arrow and click Fill Effects.

The Fill Effects dialog box opens. Click the Texture tab.

Click the texture you want to use and click OK.

INTRODUCTION

You can apply a color pattern or texture to the slide background to create yet another choice of slide backgrounds. The Fill Effects dialog box offers a variety of textures and patterns you can apply.

HINT

Caution

Use caution when applying textures to your slides. Choosing a busy background texture can make your slide text difficult to read. You might need to adjust the boldness, color, or font size to remedy the situation, or try another texture. See Part 4 to learn more about working with slide text.

To apply a pattern instead of a texture, click the Pattern tab of the Fill Effects dialog box.

Click the pattern you want to use and click OK.

Click Apply to apply the texture or pattern to the current slide, or click Apply to All to apply it to all the slides in the presentation.

PowerPoint applies the new texture or pattern. In this example, a texture is applied to the current slide.
