Part 5. Organizing Contacts > Journaling Activities for a Contact

Journaling Activities for a Contact

Open the contact and then open the Actions menu and choose New Journal Entry for Contact.

The Journal Entry window opens with the contact's name in the Subject field. Click the down-arrow next to the Entry Type field and select the type of entry.

Type the date that the activity took place into the Start Time field, or click the down-arrow next to the field and use the calendar to select the date.

Type the activity's start time into the field next to the one containing the start date, or click the down-arrow next to the field to choose the start time from the drop-down list.

INTRODUCTION

You may want to jot down notes, summarize discussions, and add other information about a contact. To do so, you can keep a contact journal. Using the contact journal, you can make note of documents sent, requested tasks, e-mail messages, phone calls, and more. These activities are then listed as part of the contact record.

TIP

A Shortcut

If you prefer, simply click—rather than open—the contact for which you want to add a journal entry in the contact list, and then open the Actions menu and choose New Journal Entry for Contact.

In the Duration field, type the activity's duration, or click the down-arrow to the right of the field to select the duration from a drop-down list.

Type a descriptive note for the entry.

Click the Save and Close button in the Journal Entry window to add the journal entry.
