Adding Action Buttons

Open the Slide Show menu, select Action Buttons, and select the Sound button from the list of buttons that appears (ScreenTips explain the sounds).

Click and hold the mouse button in the location where you want to add the action button to the slide. Then drag it to the appropriate size and release the mouse button.

The Action Settings dialog box opens. Click the down arrow next to the Play Sound field and select the sound you want to associate with the action button.

INTRODUCTION

Action buttons are elements you can add to your PowerPoint presentations to provide information or draw attention to your presentation. For example, you can add an action button that makes a sound when you click the button during the presentation. You can set up any type of action to be associated with the action button: opening a document, linking to a URL, or even playing a sound or movie clip. In this task, you learn how to add an action button to a slide and configure that action button to play a sound when it is clicked.

TIP

Independent Actions

Each action button should be independent of other objects on your slides. Action buttons do not work properly if you group them.

Click OK.

To try the action button, begin by clicking the Slide Show button.

Click the action button to hear the sound. When you're finished, press the Esc key to return to Slide view.
