189 Chapter 8. Working with Data Lists You can use Excel for more than totaling numbers; Excel can also be used as a simple data man- agement program. Using it, you can keep track of clients, products, orders, expenses, and more. You can set up a data list and use some of Excel's data list features, including sorting, subtotaling, and filtering. A data list is a set of related information about a particular person, transaction, or event. One piece of information is a field , and one set of fields is called a record .
