Viewing Email

One of the first things new users of Outlook 2003 notice is the new two-line Inbox view with the Reading Pane on the right side of the screen. It's a very dramatic change from previous versions of Outlook. The first time you use Outlook 2003, you might not like the new format of the Inbox. But before you quickly change back to the Outlook 2002 view, consider the benefits of the new organization in the Inbox.

Figure 19.1 shows a typical Inbox with nine messages using the old Outlook 2002–type view. You can view nine messages at a time in the Inbox above the bottom Reading Pane. You can see the sender of the message, the subject, and the date received. The Reading Pane shows the first few lines of the message.
