Chapter 40. Publisher for Professionals > Creating an E-mail Newsletter

Creating an E-mail Newsletter

Publisher 2003 contains a number of new e-mail designs that you can use to create HTML-formatted newsletters, product lists, announcements, and other publications to send to customers via e-mail. You can create an e-mail publication for general distribution, then e-mail it as a message, or an attachment, to multiple recipients. However, Publisher 2003 does not allow you to create an HTML-formatted publication and e-mail a personalized version to each intended recipient in your list, as you can do in Word. Merging to e-mail is not yet an option for a merged publication in Publisher.

To create a new e-mail publication, choose File, New, select the Web Sites and E-mail option, and choose the E-mail subcategory. Choose the type of publication to create and then click a design for the publication. Publisher's e-mail designs are sized so that they look acceptable when viewed in most e-mail clients. If you're creating an e-mail publication from scratch, choose Blank Web Publication and use the Page Setup dialog box. Set its width to about 558 pixels. If you make your publication any wider, you risk forcing some recipients to scroll horizontally to see the content of your message.
