Chapter 40. Publisher for Professionals > Adding Advanced Features to a Web Sit...

Adding Advanced Features to a Web Site with Publisher

Web tools have been given a makeover in Publisher 2003, making it easier than before to create a good-looking Web site. With careful attention to detail, you can create sophisticated Web sites that are easy to manage and are suitable for a business that needs a Web site of a few pages in size.

Controlling the Width of the Page

Publisher offers built-in support for displaying a Web page at a fixed width. If you don't constrain the page width, a visitor whose browser is maximized on a high-resolution display will see your page stretched to full screen width—the result is hard to read. Professional Web designers often prefer to create Web pages with a narrower width, typically around 760 pixels wide, which allows room for the browser's scroll bars and other window dressing, while still ensuring that the page's width isn't wider than what a typical 800×600 resolution monitor can display.
