Working with Text

Publisher handles text differently from Microsoft Word. Unlike Word, which includes a text layer as its primary editing area, Publisher requires that all text be placed inside a text box on the page. This allows the text to be isolated from other objects and to be moved easily.

Laying Out Text

To create a text box, click the Text Box button on the Objects toolbar (or choose Insert, Text Box) and then click and drag to draw a text box on the page. After you create the text box, Publisher positions the insertion point inside the text box so that you can immediately start typing your text. To alter the margins of a text box, click the text box and choose Format, Text Box. Click the Text Box tab (see Figure 39.18) to adjust vertical alignment, margins, and autofitting. The Left, Right, Top, and Bottom settings under Text Box Margins control the amount by which text is inset from the outside margins of the text box.
