If you structure your data in logical rows and columns, you can create dynamic lookups. Notice the MAX(IF formula in Figure 16.34. It looks up the year input in cell E7 from the date range C7:C17. It then looks up the month(1–12) in cell F7 from the same date range in C7:C17. If both conditions are met, the MAX formula returns the maximum value within that given year and month.
