Creating Structured Lists from Data Contained in One Cell

If you have multiple bits of data in one cell, you might want to separate the bits into separate columns. You could copy the information from the formula bar bit by bit, and paste them into new columns, or you could use the automated text-to-columns approach.

Consider this: You get reports sent to you via email on a weekly basis containing the following Internet channel (page) information. First, the channel (page) name, then the number of page views (times viewed), the click-through number (number click on the link), and last, the number of people who actually click a certain feature within the final page. You copy the information from the email and paste it into Excel. Your table would look similar to the table in Figure 17.11.
