Using Fill Effects to Show Variance in 3D Charts

One way to distinguish levels of data series is to apply a grade that reflects a series with colors or shades. Notice in Figure 23.25 that the different grades of stock are reflected by the gradient fills of the data series. Subtle visual tricks like these can work on the subconscious of the audience to help get the point across—for example, light color for less and darker colors for more if you’re thinking in terms of numbers.
