Changing the Border, Color, or Fill of a Chart Item

You can format the backgrounds of the chart’s data series, individual data points, plot area, chart area, and so on, by adding, altering, or removing borders and changing the color or fill effect used for the item. For example, a standard practice in formatting the background of the chart area is to create a white background with a white plot area. All the titles are black, as shown in Figure 22.24. You’ll notice this standard approach to formatting in many publications and magazines.
