CPA Tip: Export Lists to Another QuickBooks File

You can easily export lists from your QuickBooks file for use in another QuickBooks file, saving you the time of re-creating data. For example, if you are creating a new company that will use the same chart of accounts that already exists in your QuickBooks company file, you can copy the original chart of accounts to the new QuickBooks file. You can share vendor lists, item lists, budgets, class lists, customer lists—any information in an existing QuickBooks list can be easily copied to another QuickBooks company file.

If you use QuickBooks in a multiuser environment, be aware that only the administrator has the right to perform this export procedure. Also, it is advisable to have a current backup copy of your QuickBooks file, in case there is any problem with the export process.
