The Start Date

Before you can use QuickBooks, you must set aside time to get some basic company information into the program. You have to tell QuickBooks a few things about your company so that the program will be ready for you to enter transactions and prepare reports.

When you’re ready to start entering information into QuickBooks, you need to take a few minutes to consider your company’s start date. The start date is not necessarily today’s date, but rather the date on which you want to begin tracking information in QuickBooks. When you set up a company in QuickBooks, you need to enter all transactions that have occurred in the company from the start date until today.
