Then click OK. The Create Export File window will appear. Enter a filename for this file of timed activities. Make sure you use the .IIF file extension. Make a note of the filename and the folder into which you are saving your file because after you open QuickBooks, you're going to have to locate this file again. Click OK. You see a confirmation that your file has been exported successfully. The data is now available to be imported into QuickBooks. How is this data retrieved in QuickBooks, and how is it used? It's time to move on to the next section. Opening Timer Data in QuickBooks QuickBooks imports Timer data into payroll, the Enter Single Activity feature, the timesheet, and related reports. Here's how to import the data and verify that it's where you want it to be. When you created the .IIF file in the Timer, you made Timer data available for QuickBooks to import, but QuickBooks must still import the file itself before it can be used. Follow these steps to import and verify data from the QuickBooks Timer: 1. 2. With QuickBooks open, choose Timer from the File menu, and click Import Activities from Timer. Click past the confirmation screen; an Import menu appears (see Figure 26.12). Choose the .IIF file that you exported from your Timer, and click Open.
