Voiding Checks

At times, you might write a check and discover later that you must void the check. Perhaps you paid for an order, only to find that the order is defective and the supplier told you he is tearing up your check. Or maybe you wrote a check for the wrong amount and want to destroy the check.

The process for voiding a check involves finding the check in QuickBooks, and then requesting that QuickBooks void the check. It is possible to delete a check in QuickBooks, but deleting is irreversible and leaves a trail that is more difficult to follow. Because voiding a check leaves a record of the existence of the check, it is the preferred method.
