Setting Up Inventory Items On-the-Fly

When you set up your company with the EasyStep interview, you might have set up several inventory items. As your business grows, you probably need to set up additional inventory items. You can do this on-the-fly by waiting until you are ready to use the item on a form (such as a purchase order or invoice) and then entering the name of the new item in the Items area of the form. You’ll see an Item Not Found window onscreen. To add the item to your inventory list, click the Set Up button. Items must be set up before you can use them; if you click the Cancel button, QuickBooks does not allow you to use the item on your form.

When you click the Set Up button in the Item Not Found box, the New Item window appears. In this window you set up all the information you have about this new inventory item.
