Customizing Tips

Although you’ve used invoices as your customizing forms example, all sales forms, such as cash receipts, credit memos, and statements, are customized the same way. Let’s look briefly at a few examples of how and why you might customize specific types of forms.

For credit memos, it might be helpful to have a field indicating if an item was returned because of customer dissatisfaction, was exchanged because of defective merchandise, or if there was an overpayment. If an item was returned, did the customer accept credit toward another purchase or demand a refund? These are things you might want to know at a glance, just by looking at the credit memo. Also, with such data, you can use Find in Transaction to view trends in your customers’ satisfaction, or to generate reports from these fields.
