CPA Tip: Creating Separate Sales Tax Liability Reports for Each Jurisdiction

You might need to pay sales tax to more than one jurisdiction. When you request the Sales Tax Liability Report, you get sales tax owed to all jurisdictions. Here’s how to produce a report for just one jurisdiction at a time.

1.
Produce the Sales Tax Liability Report as you normally do.

2.
Click the Modify Report button. Click the Filters tab in the Modify Report window.

From the Filter List, choose Item; then, in the Item box, choose the name of the jurisdiction that you want to appear on the report.
