About the Authors

Timothy W. Pyron, Ph.D., is the editor of Woody’s Project Watch, a free newsletter for Project users that has more than 40,000 subscribers. To subscribe, go to www.woodyswatch.com. Tim is also an independent consultant and trainer for Microsoft Project users. His first book was Que’s Using Microsoft Project 3.0 (1991), and he has revised and expanded the book for each release of Project since then (including Special Edition Using Microsoft Project 98 and Special Edition Using Microsoft Project 2000). He also authored Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Project 98 in 24 Hours and Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Project 2000 in 24 Hours. His books have sold well over a quarter-million copies—not including all the translations into other languages. Earlier in his career Tim was an economics professor and a professional classical musician. Tim is the lead author for this book, and in addition to his own assignments (primarily the scheduling engine chapters, tracking, and earned value analysis), he also collaborated with the other authors on the chapters they wrote or revised.

Ira Brown is the executive vice president, chief technology officer, and co-founder of Project Assistants, Inc., a Premier Microsoft Project partner and solution provider specializing in training, consulting, and custom software development for Microsoft Project. He has extensive project management and application development experience, and he is recognized as a leading authority in developing custom solutions for Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server. Tobin “Toby” Brown, PMP (tbrown@glenridgegroup.com), is a full-time consultant and instructor who specializes in project management, information systems, and curriculum development. He has over 10 years’ experience as a presenter, consultant, team builder, and project manager. Currently, he is a partner with The Glenridge Group (www.glenridgegroup.com), an Atlanta-based organization dedicated to full-time project management services, training, and technology implementations. As a consultant, Toby is a recognized expert in the strategic implementation of project management software as well as the selection, installation, and application of project management software. Mike Glen, from Oxfordshire, England, is a chartered engineer and pilot, who retired as a Wing Commander engineer after 32 years in the Royal Air Force. Kelvin Kirby is a consultant and trainer with over 22 years’ experience. Genea C.
