Creating Hypertext Links

The first step in creating a nonlinear document is to link sections so that the reader can jump from one place to another. You do this by creating bookmarks, which are like targets where you want to land, and then by creating hyperlinks, which enable you to jump from where you are to a bookmark.

Note

Before setting bookmarks in your document, you might want to visually sketch out how you view the organization of your document, including places readers will most likely want to go (bookmarks), and places from which you expect them to link. This makes it easier to systematically go through the document and add bookmarks and hyperlinks.
