Chapter 24. Experts and Macros > Visual Basic-Do You Need It?

Visual Basic-Do You Need It?

WordPerfect Office 2002 includes support for Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language, which can be used as an alternative to the PerfectScript programming language. WordPerfect gets a gold star for being the only mainstream word processor to offer two powerful programming languages that can be used separately or in combination. So, do you need it? It depends on whether you need to accomplish something that you can’t do with PerfectScript. VBA is harder to learn and requires a much higher level of understanding of how WordPerfect operates. Prior experience with an object-oriented programming language is a definite plus.

Note

VBA support isn’t installed by default, so if you want to use it, you have to install it with a Custom Setup. Make sure you disable your antivirus program when you install any part of WordPerfect Office 2002.
