Using Templates from Earlier Versions of WordPerfect

Heavy-duty template users don’t want to hear that they can’t use their existing templates in the newest release of WordPerfect. And they don’t have to. The templates that you created in versions 6.1, 7, 8, and 9 can be used in WordPerfect 10. Some may have to be converted, and those using Address Book fields may need some fine-tuning, but for the most part, your hard work won’t go down the drain.

First, you need to copy the templates to the template folder where the WordPerfect 10 templates are stored (\program files\corel\wordperfect office 2002\template), or the Custom WP Template folder that is specified in the File Settings dialog box (choose Tools, Settings, File, and then click the Template tab). You can create subfolders in either of the template folders to organize the templates. These folder names appear as categories in the drop-down list (see Figure 22.26). This naming system helps keep the older templates separate from the templates that shipped with WordPerfect 10.
