Opening Existing Visio Drawings from Internet Explorer

From Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can open and work on your Visio document the same way as you would an HTML or Microsoft Office program file. When you open a document from within Internet Explorer, the Visio program provides the same tools that are available when you work with it as a stand-alone program.

To Open a Microsoft Visio drawing from within Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  1. Click Open on the File menu. Figure 3.10 shows the Open dialog, and the Browse button.

Figure 3.9. The Microsoft Internet Explorer Open File dialog box.

  2. Click Browse.

  3. Click All Files to display Microsoft Visio files in the Files of type drop-down list box.

  4. Find the file you want, select it, click Open, and then click OK.

  5. Click the Tools button on the Internet Explorer toolbar to display the Visio toolbar and menus. Figure 3.10 shows the Microsoft Internet Explorer Toolbar.

Tip

After the Visio document is open within Internet Explorer, you can navigate between the drawing and other Microsoft Office documents or Web pages by clicking the Forward and Back buttons on the Internet Explorer toolbar or by typing URLs in the Address box.
