Lesson 1. What's New in Excel 2002 > Introducing Excel 2002

Introducing Excel 2002

Excel is a powerful spreadsheet program that can help you create worksheets and invoices and do both simple and sophisticated number crunching. It is designed to help you calculate the results of formulas and help you analyze numerical data. Excel also makes it easy for you to take numerical information and display the data in a variety of chart types. You even can add graphics and other objects to your Excel worksheets to create professional-looking printouts and business reports.

Excel provides several user-friendly features that make it easy for you to get your data into a worksheet and format the information. Excel also makes it easy for you to do calculations, whether you use formulas that you create or use any of the numerous functions (built-in formulas) that Excel provides. There are financial, statistical, logical, and even engineering functions (Excel functions are covered in Lesson 6, "Performing Calculations with Functions").
