Selecting a Chart Object

A chart is made up of several parts, or objects. For example, a chart can have a title, a legend, and different data series (data series appear on the y-axis, x-axis, or additional axes). To enhance these items on your chart, you first must select the item you want to fix up. To do this, simply click that part or select it from the Chart Objects box on the Chart toolbar (see the next section for help with the toolbar). When a part, such as the legend, is selected, handles (tiny black squares) appear around it, as shown in Figure 18.1.

Tip

Object Any one of the single items found on a chart, such as the legend or title.
