Getting Help

Word 2002 provides extensive online help, and several ways to access it: from the Help menu, from the Office Assistant (familiar to users of Word 97 and Word 2000), and from the new Ask a Question Box. In the following sections, you'll learn how to make the most of each.

Help from the Ask a Question Box

In Word 2002, the easiest way to get help is to type a question in the Ask a Question box on the right-hand edge of the menu bar. After you type the question, press Enter; Word displays a list of Help pages that may contain the answer (see Figure 2.33). If the first five page names do not appear to contain the answer, click See More, and five more page names appear. To view one of the help pages, click on its name.
