What Are Templates?

A template is a foundation on which you can build Outlook items that have similar characteristics. Instead of creating every Outlook item from scratch, you can create templates from items, and then create other Outlook items based on those templates.

For example, you might have to create a monthly report of your activities in a standard format. That report might well have standard text that changes very little from month to month; it also might contain standard sections, and perhaps even tables that contain budget and expense information that's in the same format each month. Instead of creating all this from scratch every month, you can create and save a template. Subsequently, all you have to do each month is fill in the blanks. This can be a great timesaver. With the help of templates you might even get your monthly reports in on time!
