Troubleshooting

Exchange E-mail

Everyone has trouble, from time to time, with e-mail. Finding out the cause of those problems is difficult; correcting them is even more difficult. That's because e-mail is a very complex process that involves hardware and software on your computer, the physical connection between your computer and your e-mail servers, the paths between your servers and your recipients'servers, and the hardware and software your recipients use. You can only be responsible for your own hardware and software.

If you have trouble sending and receiving e-mail, you can try to isolate the problem by sending a message to yourself. By doing that, you're limiting the problem to what happens on your local computer and your account on the local Exchange server. If that works okay, you know that what you've set up is satisfactory. If that doesn't work, you need to ask for help from your local network or Exchange administrator.
