Chapter 4. Sending Messages > Using Outlook to Send and Receive E-mail

Using Outlook to Send and Receive E-mail

If you have an Internet e-mail account with an Internet service provider (ISP), you can use Outlook to exchange e-mail messages with anyone who also has an Internet e-mail account. You can also use Outlook to exchange e-mail messages by way of an intranet that uses Internet protocols. Outlook sends messages to your mail server, which routes those messages to recipients'mail servers. Messages addressed to you are delivered to your mail server, from which you can retrieve them.

Outlook saves copies of messages you send in the Sent Items folder. Outlook saves messages you receive in the Inbox folder.
