Chapter 8. Managing and Using Contacts > Working with Distribution Lists

Working with Distribution Lists

After saving contact items in a contacts folder as described in Chapter 7, you can use those items for many purposes, one of which is to create e-mail distribution lists, otherwise known as mailing lists. After you've created a distribution list, you can use that list as an address for e-mail messages to send a message to everyone on the list.

Note

This capability was new in Outlook 2000 and continues in Outlook 2002. In Outlook 97 and Corporate or Workgroup (C/W) Outlook 98, you had to use a personal address book if you wanted to create a distribution list. Internet Mail Only (IMO) Outlook 98 had a different way of creating distribution lists.
