Part VIII: Appendixes > Installing Office XP

Installing Office XP

Outlook is usually installed with the rest of the Office XP components. You can, however, purchase Outlook 2002 separately and install it without the other Office XP components.

Note

Unlike Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000, both of which were installed with one of three possible service options, Outlook 2002 has unified e-mail accounts and is installed in only one way. If you previously had Outlook 98 or Outlook 2000 installed on your computer, Outlook 2002 is automatically installed with the same e-mail accounts you previously used. If you install Outlook 2002 on a computer that didn't previously have a version of Outlook installed, the installation process gives you the opportunity to create e-mail accounts.

The procedure in the following steps describes what occurs if you haven't previously had Office installed on your computer.
