Chapter 18. Importing and Exporting Outl... > Importing When You First Run Outlook

Importing When You First Run Outlook

The first time you run Outlook, it examines your computer environment to see whether you have other applications installed that you might have used to save such things as appointments and information about contacts. If it finds such applications, it displays a list of them and asks you whether you want to import information from them. You can select any or all of the listed applications or, if you don't want to import from any of them, select None. If you select any existing applications, Outlook imports information from them into the appropriate Outlook folders.

Note

Outlook can import calendar and contact information from various Personal Information Managers from companies other than Microsoft. It's possible, though, that you have been using a PIM that Outlook doesn't recognize.
