Chapter 1. How Outlook Works > Outlook's Command Bars

Outlook's Command Bars

Office applications previously dealt with menu bars and toolbars separately. Microsoft has now combined menu bars and toolbars, and the way you work with them, into the single concept of command bars. Outlook 2002 is similar to other Office XP applications. Each Information viewer and form has a menu bar at the top and, under that, one or more toolbars.

The menu bar at the top of most Information viewers are almost identical, although the menu items available in each menu vary as appropriate for the type of item displayed by the viewer. Also, in some cases, menu items vary according to the actual view selected. The menu bars at the top of Outlook's forms contain menus appropriate to each form.
