Understanding Outlook's Folders

If you're using Outlook, but not as a client for Exchange, Outlook saves items of information in a Personal Folders file. Although your Personal Folders file is usually on your local hard drive, it can be on any other network disk to which you have access. If you're using Outlook as a client for Exchange, Outlook can save items of information in a Personal Folders file on a local or network disk, and it can also save items in the Exchange store.

Whether you've set up Outlook to save items on a local hard drive, a network drive, or the Exchange store, items are saved in a set of ten folders, with one folder for each type of Outlook item. These folders are
