Chapter 9. Outlook Essentials > Creating, Editing, and Managing Outlook Items

Creating, Editing, and Managing Outlook Items

When you create, view, and edit items, Outlook uses a variety of standard and custom forms to control which fields are visible. When you double-click any item, it opens using the default form for its type.

Moving, Copying, and Deleting Items

To move or copy items between Outlook folders, you can use many of the same techniques you use to manage files in an Explorer window. Drag an item out of one folder and drop it into another to move the item; hold down the Ctrl key while dragging to make a copy. Or use shortcut keys to cut (Ctrl+X), copy (Ctrl+C), and then paste (Ctrl+V) the item into the destination folder. Curiously, although Outlook's pull-down Edit menu includes all three choices, the shortcut menus available when you right-click on any item (such as a mail message) don't allow you to cut, copy, or paste.
