Secrets of the Office Masters: Tweaking the Slide Master

If you need extra space for the text placeholder in your presentation, consider modifying the Slide Master by using the method described in this chapter's section, "Modifying an Existing Design for Your Presentation." If you move the graphic elements around just a bit, and expand the main text area on three or four sides, you can squeeze a substantial amount of additional room for text into each slide.

Contrast the Slide Master shown in Figure 30.12 with the one shown earlier in Figure 30.7 (this one has had a couple of elements moved just a bit, with the graphic on the upper right squished slightly, using the techniques described earlier in this chapter). Although this slide isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the earlier slide, there's considerably more room for slide text—and chances are good your audience will never notice the difference between the two.
