Excel in Practice

By knowing which text functions do what, you can simplify your life and become extremely efficient when it comes to managing data. Notice in Figure 15.14 that the initial list has tons of inconsistencies. By using the following functions, you can quickly clean up and modify this list: Notice the functions used in cells C16:F16.

  • TRIM function— Removes all the unnecessary spaces in a cell.

  • PROPER function— Creates initial caps on all text.

  • CONCATENATE function— Adjoins text from different cells.
