Creating Column Depth

After creating a default 3D column chart, you can either leave the chart in its default format, or you can take advantage of Excel's depth options. By understanding the value of 3D elevation and rotation in Excel's 3D charts, you'll be able to add the right perspective to a chart and create emphasis on certain areas.

Caution

Unless you have specific reasons to plot a chart in a 3D format, stay with 2D charts. A 3D chart might be more aesthetically pleasing, but remember that the audience should be able to determine what the chart says in seconds. If possible, use 2D charts.
