Enhancing Charts with Shapes

Adding shapes (formerly known as drawing objects) to a chart enables you to provide additional visual interest and clarify data within the chart. Figure 22.17 shows how you can effectively use some of the drawing tools in a chart. In this example, the season was added across the charted time and the fiscal quarter names were applied between the x-axis and its labels. Shapes can be found on the Drawing toolbar (see Figure 22.18). Table 22.1 describes some uses for the drawing tools available.
