Setting Security Options

Although Internet Explorer is configured to enable you to easily interact with Web sites on the World Wide Web and freely download files and add-ons for your browser, you can control some of these parameters using the Internet Options dialog box. You can add sites to a trusted list and sites to restricted list. When sites in the restricted list are accessed using Internet Explorer, certain features, such as the capability to download files for the site, are disabled.

Probably the best way to approach using the security options is to create a list of restricted sites. This assumes that any other sites on the Web are trusted (which is the default setting for any and all Web sites on the Web). As you come across sites that you do not feel comfortable with, you can add them to the restricted list. This feature doesn't actually block content, just the capability of a particular site to damage your computer by automatically downloading a virus or other destructive program.
